Our Visit to St Fagans

Our class visited ‘Bryn Eryr’ an Iron Age farmstead at St Fagans.
We found out lots about the everyday life of the Celts in Wales. We learned about the different materials needed to build a Celtic roundhouse. Some of the class were chosen to hold materials such as straw, copper, clay and flint.
Next we all went inside to discover how Celtic people cooked, made bread and made clothes. Then we made our own bracelets out of ‘wool’ and we were able to try wheat grinding.
Outside the roundhouse we were allowed to train to become Celtic warriors by throwing spears. We liked this bit the best!
A messy, muddy and enjoyable time was had by all!

Our Visit to St John’s Church

Mrs Cogbill’s & Mrs King’s class recently visited St John’s Church on the Graig. We had a look around the inside of the church & Father Michael spoke to us all. We were able to ask him questions to find out more about the internal features of the church. We also had squash & biscuits which was a lovely treat. We all learned lots & lots!
After our visit, Father Michael & Mrs Minton sent the school a letter inviting us to take part in a competition. The children in Mrs Cogbill’s class had to each create a poster advertising the church & the children in Mrs King’s class had to create an information guide. All the entries were sent to the church & members of the congregation looked at them all to decide the winners. The two winners were - Zi mo Zheng & Megan Dinsdale. Congratulations to the winners & to all the children who took part.
All pupils work will be on display during the church summer fete on Saturday 6th June.
We would also like to thank Father Michael & Mrs Minton for such a wonderful welcome.
