In the park today we have had fun repotting snapdragons and marigolds and have planted two flowerbeds. The volunteers at Friends of Ynysangharad War Memorial Park very kindly gave us snapdragons and marigolds to bring back to school. We have already started planting them in our containers in the yard.
We bought seeds and volunteers from Friends of Ynysangharad War Memorial Park helped us plant them in seed trays in the glasshouse. We planted lettuce, radishes, watermelon, carrots, peas and mangetout.
Today we walked in to town to find flowers and plants for sale. We came across loads in front of a shop and in our groups discussed our preferences and costings. We noted them down on paper to take back to school in order to plan our planting sessions in our pots.
Afterwards we walked to the park to see how the park keepers planted their flower beds. We took special interest in how the plants were spaced, which colour combinations were used and which flowers attracted the most bees.
We experimented with watercolour paint, there were so many colours to choose from so we made our own colour palette. After looking at a variety of flowers on the internet we chose the ones we would like to paint and had a go. We think they look amazing!
