Traffic Survey

As part of our topic on the Environment we looked at the amount of traffic that was travelling on three different roads. We worked in small groups and made a tally chart of different vehicles that past us. We allowed 10 minutes on each road to ensure the experiment was fair. We counted the traffic on Lanwern Road, Sardis Road and Rhondda Road.
We found that there were a small amount of cars and the odd van on Lanwern Road, quite a lot of cars and lots of vans on Sardis Road but Rhondda Road was so busy we couldn't keep up!! There were cars, lorries, vans, buses, motorbikes and cyclists!!
We had so much fun counting. Tomorrow we will look at the data we collected and create graphs from it.

Dance

On 16TH March we celebrated World Book Day in school and dressed up as characters from books and films. Our current class book is The Snow Spider by Jenny Nimmo and we are all enjoying it very much.  We started activities linked to this book on World Book Day, such as writing Gwyn’s diary extracts, thinking of questions we would like answered in the book, writing character profiles and shopping on the Tesco website for Gwyn’s birthday party.

PC Dean and year 4

We had a visit from PC Dean to talk about friend of foe? We worked in groups on scenarios that could or do happen. We discussed as a group what we would do and if the person in the scenario was a friend or foe. Some of the scenarios we were surprised at the outcome and it has made us more aware of people in the wider community.
Here are some photos of our day.
